Weiner goes for the century mark

Since Plant High School started playing organized football in 1927, Only 15 men have been named as the head varsity football coach. The great Roland Acosta roamed the sidelines for two decades and for many years, was the measuring stick for success of area coaches.

After Roland Acosta stepped away, Darlee Nelson was the next head coach of the Panther football program. Under Nelson’s management, Plant had just one season (2001) when the team was .500 or better.
