HERNANDO COUNTY RECRUITING

Weeki Wachee’s Montae Bostick

You always want to show progression–not digression–(obviously)–when you’re trying to get noticed by college coaches and Weeki Wachee’s Montae Bostick fits that description. Things are starting to get interesting on the North Suncoast in terms of the talent starting to get spread around on rosters in that neck of the woods and with the return of a few other key ingredients on the offense, the Hornets look poised to put points on the board again next season thanks to Bostick and company.

Bostick stands at 6-feet, 170-pounds and can play both sides of the ball. He’s a member of the class of 2017–so another year for his development beckons, but his numbers are showing that his senior year could be a great one and one that gets him noticed–if he keeps trending in the direction he’s trending.

As a sophomore, Bostick registered 16 tackles–10 solo–along with 104 yards rushing on the offensive side. He was also credited with an interception, two pass deflections and a caused fumble. Fast forward to his junior season, and you see all kinds of contributions to the squad. This past season, Bostick rushed for 706 yards and five touchdowns plus put up 45 tackles–34 of those solo–along with an interception, nine pass deflections and two fumble recoveries.

Pop in his film from 2015, and you’ll see that he’s got the quintessential shiftiness from a ball carrier and can cut as quickly as anyone he’s on the field with. Another positive attribute in his style is little waste time in moving laterally–aka he gets upfield in a hurry. On defense, Bostick shows that once he hits his target–said target goes down. Bostick’s ceiling appears to be high when you add the fact he’ll have his QB Alec Cromie back for another season which assures them to be one of the better offensive tandems in the county next season.
