TOP PERFORMERS

1. Kevin McClain, Hamilton County 2015 G – The biggest surprise of the state championship games so far. Played so well, he started chatter throughout media row and set twitter ablaze. Very consistent, shooting 10-18 from the filed, 3-3 from the foul line, 7 rebounds and 5 assist. Ended the game with a smooth 24 points vs. Chipley

2. Kyle Weeks, Chiefland 2014 G – Loved his competitiveness; 9 rebounds, 2 assist and 22 points vs. Malone. Gritty player, with a sweet stroke and hungry attitude.

3. Joel Berry, Lake Highland Prep 2014 PG – Started a little slow. Could not get his shot to fall until mid way in the second period. Once he hit his first few field goals, you could see the red in his eyes. It was “Go” time. Played all 32 minutes and nded the game 5-12, made 10-11 free throws, 9 big rebounds and 20 points on his way to another 4A state title.

4. Antwain Johnson, Malone 2015 SG – Where did this guy come from? His shooting percentage was not the greatest, but he took and made some big shots. Handled the ball extremely well and can create his own shot off the dribble. Really impressed with his 11 rebounds, 18 point performance vs. Chiefland.

5. Prince Ali, Sagemont 2015 SG – Played more like a king. Followed up his stellar semifinal game with a 8-12, 10 rebound, 4 assist, 20 point performance in the championship game. Scored 17 points in the first half. Game was out of hand by halftime, Sagemont 4A state champs.

6. Alonze Bailey, Malone 2014 PG – Very sound semifinal game. 50% from the field and 18 points. Did everything with in his power to help his team advance to the state championship game.

7. Jaren Lewis, Lake Highland Prep 2015 SF– Played big! Hit big shots and scrapped all evening. Played just about every position on the court. Very controlled player. Scored 15 points and grabbed 11 total rebounds.

Jay Henderson, Lake Highland Prep 2014 SF

8. Jay Henderson, Lake Highland Prep 2014 SF – Had a monster night and hit shots when the team needed them to fall the most. Started slow but finished strong. Was 3 of 12 form 3-point land. But the three he hit, were huge. Played 31 of 32 minutes and ended the game with 15 points and 7 rebounds.

9. Juwan Durham, Tampa Prep 2016 C – Another good performance on the big stage for Juwan. Again, should developing intermediate jump shot and post up moves. Ended the game 7-13, 6 rebounds and 19 points.

10. Tyrome Sharpe, Chipley 2015 G – Volume shooter: made 6 of his 20 shots to score 17 points vs. Hamilton County. Penetrated extremely well, but didn’t finish half the time at the rim. Good ball handler and competitive.
