USF: Mike White, University School 2013 QB vs Madison County

University School @ Nova Southeastern University defeated Madison County this past weekend in the 3A FHSAA state finals in Orlando. Of all the stud athletes on the field for both teams, University QB, Mike White played pretty darn well.

At 6-3, White towered or the line. Championship stats: 21-31 0 INTs, 282 yards 2TDs and only sacked once. The numbers which pretty much describe the day he had. White was really efficient, throwing a number of short balls to allow his playmakers to make plays. Threw the intermediate ball very well. Putting the rock on the numbers in traffic and on the move. Did not throw a ton of deep balls, but the ones he did throw, his ball placement was pin point.

White was only sacked once, because he moves pretty well in the pocket. Good pocket presence and a quick set up. White will need to improve on his anticipation. A few times, he waited for the receiver to pop open instead of throwing the ball on time in anticipation of the receiver popping open. He did read the defenses fairly well and threw the ball into zone coverage successfully.

Mike White, threw 20 TDs entering the championship game and 1,908 yards. Solid numbers for a state championship team. After the big win, he made a verbal commitment to the South Florida Bulls. White is a good pick up for South Florida. A developing prospect with lots of upside and good skills. The QB position is a big need for USF and White could be a name we hear often associated with USF football for years to come.
