The 2011 9 Route Newman Trophy is up for grabs.  This 10inch optic crystal tower is named after 1994 Guy Toph Winner, Keith Newman who has contributed to Big County Preps in numerous was and is a fixture in Hillsborough County prep football.  The Newman trophy will go home with the winner of this weekend’s BHSN/BCP 9 Route 7 on 7 tournament starting Friday.  16 teams are set to compete, some teams have even bypassed other tournaments to get a crack at taking home the hardware.  Currently, the 2010 Trophy sits on the desk of Spoto head coach, Dale Caparaso, after the Spartans defeated the Wharton Wildcats in the championship game.

 

Note: Guy Toph 1994 winner Keith Newman, Jefferson, TE:  Super Prep All American, 1st All County,1st All Suncoast, 1st All Conference 2nd All State as a SR. Was HM All State as a JR. Led the Dragons to 2 playoff appearances and a Bowl game in his 3 year career. Played in the North/South Shrine All Star Game and won the county scholar athlete award. Signed a scholarship with North Carolina and played 8 years in the NFL.
