Jefferon, DE/TE, 2012

BCP: Are you looking past your senior season as a Dragon and on to your freshman season as a collegiate student athlete?
McCord: Definitely not! I will be taking this year one game at a time. Me and my teammates have a goal to repeat as state champs. It’s my job to lead us there.

BCP: Do you have any concerns about the 2011 season?
McCord: Last year we had plenty of “Swag”. We have to get our “Swag” back. We can’t just talk the talk. We have to be able to walk the walk!

BCP: If you could visit any place in the world, where would it be?
McCord: Africa. I would love to see my roots and where my people came from. I am very fortunate here and my parents and grandparents have always taught me to be thankful for what I have, because there are people all over the world that are less fortunate. I would like to experience how my people live in Africa.

BCP: If you were stranded on a desert island, what 3 items would you hope to have?
McCord: Food/water, cell phone and an internet connection [laughing]. I need my internet.

BCP: Who is your hero or who do you look up to?
McCord: Definitely my Defensive Coordinator, Coach Sailor (Ricky Sailor). He really cares about me and has guided me through this recruiting process. Coach Ellis Williams helped me improve as a defensive end and showed me a bunch of new moves. My mother is the closest thing to my heart. Not to take away from what my father has done, but my mother is my heart.

BCP: 10 years from now, who will Tyriq McCord be?
McCord: A great father who will be a provider for my family. A family man.  Hopefully a NFL player also.

BCP: What would you like to major in as a college student?
McCord: Business, Sports Marketing or Communications. Communications really interest me.

BCP: What do you have to offer any college football program?
McCord: Dedication, heart, standout student athlete on and off the field.

BCP: Has there been any major obstacles that you have had to overcome in your life?
McCord: Nothing tragic at this point. But not being eligible to play in the spring vs. Robinson at the end of my freshman year really hurt. We were getting beat and there was nothing I could do about it because I screwed up in the classroom. But, that was a great lesson for me. So, I turned it around and got “RIGHT” in the classroom.

BCP: Name 3 of your teammates and one word each teammate would use to describe you.
McCord: I will have to go with the rest of the “Fantastic Four”:
Charles Booth – “Caring”
Will Watson – “Dedicated”
Adrian Jenkins (aka Will Smith, because of his box fade and he looks like Will Smith) – “Hard Worker”
