Trinity explodes in second half. Defeats Clearwater Central Catholic 34-7

And for one half of action, it looked like Clearwater Central Catholic had a great shot at becoming the first school in Pinellas County history to win a state championship.

But after a scoreless first half, Trinity Christian unleashed on the Marauders, scoring 27 unanswered points in less than seven minutes of the third quarter. The Conquerors won the Class 3A state championship game, 34-7, for their second title in four seasons.  SEE FULL BHSN ARTICLE HERE

ATH Isaiah Ford finished with a game high 102 rushing yards on 9 carries; Add two TDs and averaged 11.3 yards per carry. His running mate, RB Jalin Buie rushed 12 times for 98 yards and 1 TD. Both ball carriers were super impressive and gave CCC all they could handle.

Defensively, DB Kevin Toliver lead the team in tackles with 7. He also grabbed one of CCC’s 4 interceptions. He was lockdown on the perimeter. Victor Alexander was extremely active. Had 6 tackles and 1 TFL. Stayed after the QB and RBs all afternoon.

Clearwater Central Catholic
Jeff Smith was gritty. Made young mistakes, but showed guts. Finished with 92 yards on the ground, averaged 6.1 yards per carry, 19/34 for 143 passing yards and 4 interceptions. Blake Gomez contributed with 6 receptions and 36 yards.

Defensively, LB Connor Dorris played big; 10 tackles, 5 solo, .5 sack and 1 TFL. Kyle Brittain 6 solo and 9 total tackles.
