The eight individual class finalists for the 2011 Florida Dairy Farmers Mr. Football and Coach of the Year have been announced following balloting by a statewide panel of high school football coaches and prep media representatives.
Tom McHugh, Dade City Pasco, Class 5A Coach of the Year
The Pirates finished 13-1 under McHugh and advanced to the state semifinals where they fell to Wakulla, 41-38, in three overtimes. In his five seasons with the Pirates, Pasco has been a playoff regular with McHugh’s teams posting a 55-11 record (.833 winning percentage) over that span.
Nelson Agholor, Tampa Berkeley Prep, Sr., Running Back/Defensive Back, Class 3A Player of the Year
Agholor led the Bucs to a 12-1 season and the state semifinals with 212 carries for 1,983 yards and 28 TDs; added 33 tackles with three INTs, eight punt returns for 262 yards (32.7 avg.) and scored a total of 34 TDs.
Every finalist was the leading vote-getter in their classification, making each one the Player of the Year or Coach of the Year in their class.
