The Vanguard Award Selects November Winner

Tampa, FL — December 29, 2011—The Vanguard Award is proud to announce November’s award recipient. Katherine Lutton, a senior from Hillsborough High School, has not only excelled on the field, but she is also dedicated to her studies and community involvement. Vanguard Attorneys will present $1,000 to the Hillsborough High School athletic program during the halftime show of a home basketball game on Wednesday, January 4 at 8 p.m.

Lutton is a true example of a leader. Her cross country coach, Hassan Wajd, explains that she plays a ‘big sister’ role and motivates her peers to excel in all facets of life. During her junior year, Lutton broke a 30 year old cross country record and became a Florida High School Athletic Association state finalist. Lutton also gives back to the Tampa Bay community through the YMCA and Tampa Bay Harvest.

Each month, the Vanguard Award selection committee will recognize a new Hillsborough County high school athlete for their contributions on the field, in the classroom and in the community. The winning student’s school’s athletic program will receive $1,000. These programs are crucial to the community’s growth and the success of Hillsborough County students. Vanguard Attorneys appreciates the dedication among coaches and student athletes and created the award to show their support.
