The Round 2 Edition of BCP’s Barber Shop

It’s starting to get down to the nitty-gritty in the Barber Shop. The movember movement has reduced the amount of available clients for the time being, but that doesn’t mean we’ve got some primetime clients in the chair from this past Friday’ performances. Checkout who’s in the shop this week!

10 – The number of 100+ yard rushing performances for Tampa Catholic’s Devan Barrett. The junior rushed for 100 on-the-nose in the Crusaders crushing of Trinity Catholic. That win sets up an EPIC match-up with the Conquerors of Trinity Christian in the 3A State Semifinals this Friday.

2 – The number of touchdowns scored by Plant City’s TJ Chase in under a minute on the clock for the Raiders in their defeat of Tampa Bay Tech. Next up–Braden River in the 7A Region-3 Finals.

100 – The number of years Plant City has been playing football–the number of 11-win seasons? One. This season.

7 – The number of different receivers Daniel Boon completed a pass to in a 176 yard performance for the Tigers in their rout of Jefferson. The junior normally averages just under 120 per game. Next up for the Tigers–Dunbar out of Fort Myers in the 5A Region 3 Finals at Jesuit.

4 – The number of different ways Clearwater Central Catholic’s CJ Cottman scored a touchdown for the Marauders in their romp over John Carroll Catholic out of Fort Pierce. Cottman scored via rush, reception, punt return and on an interception return. Next up for CCC–a trip to Delray Beach to take on American Heritage in the Class 3A State Semifinals

127 – The number of yards gained by sophomore RB Andrew Cunningham for Cambridge Christian in the Lancers 36-32 comeback victory over Admiral Farragut. That’s Cunningham’s sixth 100+ yard performance of the season. The Lancers are in the Class 2A State Semifinals for their first time in program history and will host First Baptist out of Naples this Friday.

712 – The number of combined yardage for Nature Coast Tech’s Deshawn Smith and River Ridge’s Chris Schwarz in their 75-point shootout up in Brooksville on Friday. Smith went for 445 yards and Schwarz went for 267 yards.

936 – The number of combined yards that Smith and his opponent this week–Clay’s Bilal Ally rushed for. Believe it or not–Smith wasn’t the leading rusher in the state on Friday thanks to Ally in the Blue Devils upset over North Marion 65-58. When you combine the number of touchdowns the two scored–that gives you 12–in case you were curious.

5,365 – The new all-time rushing record in Pasco County after it was set by River Ridge’s Chris Schwarz. The senior finished the evening with 267 on 37 carries.

19 – The number of times the last two seasons in 24 games (not counting spring or preseason) that Schwarz has rushed the ball at least 25 times per game. In 2014, he hit that mark ten times, rushing for 30+ three times, 40+ twice, and 50+ once. This season, he carried the rock at that 25 carry per game pace nine times–running it 30+ five times and 40+ once.

13 – The number of consecutive regional finals appearances for Sean Callahan and the Armwood Hawks following their victory over Brandon. Next up–they host Gainesville in the 6A Region 2 Finals.

2 – The number of wins away from Orlando for Nature Coast Tech, Jesuit, Plant City, Braden River, Lakeland and Armwood.

1 – The number of wins away from Orlando for Clearwater Central Catholic, Cambridge Christian, Tampa Catholic and Victory Christian

0 – The number of points surrendered to Venice by the Braden River Defense on Friday Night. That’s just the second time in 9 years (112 games) that’s happened to the Indians with both games taking place in November. The Indians weren’t shutout for seven years straight before both Manatee County teams completed the task. Last season, Manatee defeated Venice on November 7th by a 10-0 score. This year, the Pirates took care of business on November 20th by a 17-0 margin.
