The PAT: Prospect Focus from River Ridge vs. Tampa Catholic

Ton of guys making noise in this game last Friday night that saw a 300+ yard rushing performance by River Ridge’s Chris Schwarz. He wasn’t the only guy making all the plays as the Crusaders from Tampa Catholic have a roster full of them. Here now are some of the players that stood out from TC’s 26-14 victory over the Royal Knights of River Ridge.

Nate Craig-Myers. You could probably just stop the sentence right there with just his name and it would be complete. He touched the ball four times and it was a circus each time he did with over 125 yards all-purpose and a beautiful touchdown run that ended up being the clincher in the third quarter stretching the lead to thirteen points. Quarterback Kevin Knox showed flashes of being a next-level QB and then had a few moments of showing why he is such an elite basketball prospect with his athleticism and his ability to make smart plays with the football. A little sporadic at times were Knox’s throws to smaller WR’s like RB J’kobi Reddick, (who played with great intensity and was a dual-threat for TC on the night), but overall more-than-serviceable for Head Coach Mike Gregory and his team. Devan Barrett provided the two biggest plays of the night with consecutive sacks and then a fumble caused which turned into a touchdown with no time left on the clock at the end of the game. Barrett, BCP’s #1-ranked prospect from the Class of 2017 did not disappoint carrying the ball 12 times for 37 yards and an important TD run, plus the aforementioned series of sacks from his CB position that ultimately led to the Crusaders victory.

Schwarz (5-9.5/200) goes beyond the call of duty for his team on offense and showed why some of the Ivy League schools along with West Point are taking a serious look at this young man. Not only did he prove those numbers to not be a fluke against TC this spring, but Schwarz has improved his footwork and his change of direction in open space which could mean even bigger things for the Knights come this Fall. Quarterback Trevor Hawks (5-9/165) also showed he could do more than just hand the ball off to Schwarz making some nice throws to WR Alex Kostogiannes and TE Noah Guido in the play-action and OLB/RB Patrick Cook showed he could handle some of the duties at the running back spot to relieve Schwarz, even IF temporary.
