Fireworks will be on full display Thursday night as the Dreadnaughts host the Spartans for what will without a doubt be one of the most intense spring football games this year.

Bryant Stadium will open its gates as questions will begin to be answered for the Dreadnaughts and Spartans. Can Lakeland return to championship form in 2012? Will this be there year Lakewood puts it all together?

It will be just a sneak peak, but a thrilling peak nonetheless.

Huge names will be on display. Unknowns will put their names on the map.

Can Lakeland’s secondary slow down the dynamic wide receiving core of Florida commit Rodney Adams and Marquez Valdes? Can the Dreadnaughts stop Tracy Johnson from throwing, or running?

Lakeland brings a very tough line backing core to the table. Western Kentucky commit T.J. Simmons and Jalen Stevenson bring a lot of power to the Dreadnaughts’ second-level defense which will have to get past Logan McNeil and Isaiah Wynn in order to disrupt Johnson.

In addition to an explosive offense the Spartans have an equally intimidating defense. Austin Copeland sets the tone with his hard hitting ways, while brothers Shaquem and Shaquill Griffin lock down the secondary.

Lakewood names you don’t know, but you will – 2015 DT Nyquel Alexander (6-5 330); 2014 WR/TE Darquez Watson (6-2 195); 2014 WR Donterio Fowler (5-10 170).

While this is just a spring game, it will still bring intensity. The Dreadnaughts will want to defend their turf while the ‘Wood doesn’t like to lose, to anybody, even if it’s a spring “scrimmage” game.
