Team Tampa ready for battle at IMG Madden 7-on-7

The Tampa area will put its talent on display this weekend at the IMG Madden 7-on-7 Southeast Regional.

The squad, aptly named “Team Tampa,” is built on athleticism and skill boasting many of the top players in the area, and the state.

The most updated roster, released at 2 p.m. today, shows 22 players representing 12 area schools. Of the 22 prospects, 14 are featured in the 2012 Winter Fire 49.

The 7-on-7 qualifying event is not only a great way for participants to compete with top-tier competition and gain college exposure, but it is also a great way for Tampa to showcase its athletes to state-wide competition.

“It’s an honor to play with some of Tampa’s best all on one team, to play against other areas,” sophomore linebacker Vincent Jackson says. “I love challenging competition that you don’t usually face everyday.”

Jackson is one of eight sophomores on Team Tampa, which also welcomes one freshman.
