MANATEE COUNTY RECRUITING

Tank in the Backfield: Manatee Freshie Kyree Jones Has ‘IT’ Factor

Bradenton, September 25, 2018– Life comes at you fast and so does Hurricanes’ freshman running back Kyree “DJ” Jones who’s “spinning defenders like records.” Kyree is causing a ruckus in Manatee’s respected 8A district with his show-stopping qualities, shattering national averages with his colorful stat-line and the awakening reality is- it’s just the beginning of what could be an illustrious HSFB career!

The red white and blue’s Phenom is off to a hot start as the program is undefeated at home with an overall record of 3-2 nearly halfway through the regular season. Listed at a whopping 225 pounds crunched into a 5’9” frame, he’s a solid mass terrorizing defensive backfields.

His sheer size and low center of gravity, not to mention his quick feet bursting through pockets makes Jones an absolute CHORE to bring down. DJ’s field awareness aides him when cornered, putting would-be tacklers in a spin cycle or on their backs with the only gear he knows- forward.

Kyree’s got the juice because sauce is temporary and he has shown 0 signs of slowing down in his 5 games played as a first-year young blood, racking up 409 yards on 60 carries, averaging 6.8 YPC, 81.8 YPG, rushing 4 scores to the house and 2 TD’s in the air on 3 receptions for 90 yards.

His best performance thus far surfaced in a blow-out W against Steinbrenner last week in which he amassed 124 rushing yards on just 15 touches, averaging 8.3 with a long-haul of 63 yards, tallying 2 touchdowns- his second 100+ yard game on the year. Commit or get off the tracks because this train is a one-way stop to the end zone!

Freshman Hurricane Kyree “DJ” Jones is showing early signs of long-time promise in his first-year debut, on pace to break 1,000-yard mark and if all goes smooth, this athlete can certainly live up to his elite potential with his best years still to be conquered.

This Friday Night Lights, Jones and Manatee will seek to remain undefeated with their home crowd as they kick off versus Alonso at 7:30p.
