Tampa Bay 2012 football A-Z

The 2012 Tampa Bay football season was one of the best in a while.  There was a balance of power, a ton of good players and lots of motivated coaching.  Below is Tampa Bay 2012 football from A-Z.

A ABSOLUTELY UNPREDICTABLE The area was not top heavy as it has been in years past.  No dominant teams. Lots of good teams.  Anyone could win on any Friday.
B BARELY Barely a seat available at any Robinson home games starting game 10 of the season.
C COUGARS The Durant Cougars finished the regular season 10-0. First time in school history.
D DEPUE Robinson former head football coach, Mike DePue ended his colorful career on top. 12-2 for his going away party.
E EAST COUNTY East Hillsborough County may have been stronger than West Hillsborough County this season.  Durant, TBT, Armwood, Newsome make a strong argument
F FORFEIT Countryside missed the playoffs this year due to district games forced to forfeit.  20-0 and district champs the previous two seasons.
G GAME SPEECHES Heard some pre-game and post game speaches that moved us, inspired us and motivated us.  They came from the heart.
H HILLSBOROUGH Hillsborough Terriers finally defeated Armwood.  Hawks won last 10 meetings since 2005.
I IRISH #1 Kansas State loses 52-24 against Baylor; #2 Oregon loses 17-14 to Stanford. Puts the Irish of Notre Dame at #1 and Alabama at #2 which blew up the message board.
J JESUIT Football fans waited on Jesuit’s offensive roller-coaster to stop.  It never did and Tigers were a big question mark all season long.  How good are they? How good could they be if they could throw the ball effectively?
K KABOOM We saw plenty of players get “kaboomed”.  Better keep your head on a swivel!
L L3 Still very curious what school Leon McQuay will commit to.
M MADE US BELEIVERS Pasco DT, Joey Ivie was a baller and made us believers that he could be an impact player as a true freshman next year at Florida.
N NO ONE PLAYING 4 TITLE For the first time in 11 seasons, Hillsbrough County did not have a team playing for a state title.
O OVERTIME Plant vs. Armwood sparked again!  The game went to overtime and the Panthers pulled out the win.
P PETE East Lake QB, Pete Dinovo ended his junior year warming up, spent the summer heating up and spent the 2013 season on FIRE!
Q QUAD Once push overs on many teams’ schedule, the quad of Gaither, Sickles, Alonso and Steinbrenner have all emerged to respectable programs.
R ROBERT DAVIS Carrollwood Day RB, Robert Davis broke the single season rushing record of 2150 yards held by Lydell Ross since 2000. Davis rushed for 2221 yards.
S Six A – Eight (6A-8) The madness that almost turned district 6A-8 upside down.  If Jefferson would have been forced to give up their win vs. Sickles, Monday night 3-way tie breaker would have been ordered.
T THE FINISH The finish with Tampa Bay Tech at Gaither, Plant at Robinson and Newsome at Durant was priceless!
U UNDEFEATED When the season started, 72 teams started the year undefeated.  3 teams finished the regular season the same way (Durant, Largo, Pasco).
V VERNON Vernon Hargreaves III excited football fans all season.  Lived up to all the hype and some.
W WORTH Will Worth did the same thing he had been doing for the past few years; Ballin!  Rushed and passed for over 1K yards each and led his team to the third round of the playoffs.
X XXXL The big boys played big this year.  Guys wearing XXL-XXXL game pants, were some of the best players each Friday night.
Y YARD Robinson missed a last chance by one yard.  One yard would have given the Knights once more chance to score and advance to the state finals.
Z ZAIN Zain Gilmore went from just another name, to THEE name in Hillsborough County.  Took his game to another level in 2012.
