Spring Scrimmage: Bloomingdale

Cody Crouse, Bloomingdale, QB

Valrico, FL – The Bulls held their Red and White inter squad scrimmage tonight and there were some great efforts.  The first thing you notice is the towering 6-5, 2014 QB, Cody Crouse.  He is just a baby but throws a good ball when he steps into his passes.  Still raw, but with 3 more years to develop and fill out, he can be darn good.  Crouse had his moments tonight, threw some good balls at times and then threw some bad balls, but that will come with experience and arm strength.  I guess I am a bit bias towards small players, being small in stature myself, but the small guys put on a show.  Kameron (sp) Faile and Sean Minnifield both showed toughness and skill.  Minnifield got rocked one play and jump right up, put his helmet back on and got ready for the next play.  He also had 3 or 4 nice grabs with plenty of Yards After Catch.  Faile showed some great feet between the tackles and took on all defenders.  Surprisingly, the Bulls have a pretty athletic secondary with a young pup who I will be keeping a close eye, Alan Yearby.  2014 kid who still needs plenty of work as a safety, but he likes contact and covers ground.  The kid will be a solid player this year and a big time player by time he is a senior.  The offense started slow, but that is to be expected with only 2 weeks of practice.  But they started moving the ball some with zone out of the gun and simple 3 step pass game.  All in all, more positive than negative for Bloomingdale, with the best part being that they can learn from watching the film from tonight’s scrimmage so mistakes can be cleaned up.
