Spring Blitz: Hillsborough vs Middleton

Anthony Brown tries to escape Middleton defenders

Tampa, FL – THE BLITZ: Nothing fancy here. The score indicated just how the game went. Hillsborough 28 – Middleton 0, in a game that looked as it was going to be a neighborhood slug feast. Not the case at all. Hillsborough was dominate on both sides of the ball, lead by a committee of running backs which included Anthony Brown, Jeremiah Green and Leroy Harris. The Terrier offense was very vanilla but effective churning out yards on the majority of their possessions. The Tigers did not have an answer for FB, Leroy Harris who carried Middleton defenders for 4-6 yards a pop. 2013 prospect, Jeremiah Green, got the Terriers on the board 1st with a 30 yard scamper right through the heart of the MHS defense. Then 2013 DE prospect, Jordan Sherit added 6 more points for the Terriers with a TD reception of his own on a TE pop pass. Defensive backs, Armaud Herndon and Jeremiah Green added the nail, then the hammer as both picked off Middleton QB, Aaron Midthus and returned the interception for a touch down, making the score 28-0 with just minutes remaining in the half.

Richard Benjamin escapes Hillsborough tacklers

Middleton did have some bright spots. The brightest was Richard Benjamin who was quiet much of the game but showed sparks. Benjamin had a big kick off return where it looked as though the Terriers had him bottled up, but only to escape and pick up 20 extra yards. Middleton used a series of short passes effectively early in the game which allowed the Middleton athletes to make some plays in space.

Jeremiah Green breaks open for a TD run

The Horse: Jeremiah Green, Hillsborough, DB, 2013, was the man on this night. He was every where, scored twice, one on offense and defense, knock the living snot out of one Middleton player and was on just about every perimeter tackle.

Time Out:Middleton offensive line struggled to provide time for QB, Aaron Midthus. The offensive line needs to communicate better and become more physical.  Too many times, Midthus had to leave the pocket in order to create more time to find a receiver.
