Sickles wears down Robinson 35-14

Sickles 2014 DE, Josh Black tackles Robinson RB, Michael Duclos

TOOK A MINUTE
Sickles defeated #15 Robinson last night 35-14. The game ended slightly early after a big lightning blot lit up the sky just miles away from the stadium. With less than 7 minutes remaining in the 4th quarter, Robinson and Sickles administrators called the game due to the lightning.

The field was litter with penalty flags. Seemed like every other snap, there was a laundry. Neither team really looked good offensively. Sickles relied heavily on Ray-Ray McCloud and Robinson fed Duclos often. Both teams were very vanilla.

Robinson got on the board first with a Jahrvis Davenport 45 yard TD pass. That would be the last time Robinson sniffed the end zone till the 4th quarter. Sickles answered back with a couple of TDs of their own, drives orchestrated by QB Isaac Holder.

OVERWHELMING
Sickles defensive line overwhelmed the Robinson offensive front. The Knight QBs rarely had time to set their feet and go through their progression to find receivers. Josh Black was a one man wrecking crew. He was super fast off the ball, defeated double teams and made several tackles in the offensive backfield. Combined with Deven Santana, the two Gryphon defensive ends were down right harassing. Robinson running backs found little running room and the quarterbacks internal clocks were in overdrive. Robinson also turned the ball over several times, not helping their cause to chop at the Sickles lead on the scoreboard.

UPSET?
Yes and No. Sickles is unranked, while Robinson entered the game at #15. So, by the rankings, yes it would be an upset. However, we picked this contest to be the game of the week, because we felt the result could go either way. Both teams are expected to be solid this season and the match up on paper looked really good. Not really an upset. More like, unexpected with the point margin.

Isaac Holder scored 3 rushing touchdowns, threw a touchdown pass to Chet LeVay and kept drives alive with his scrambling ability. Ray-Ray McCloud touched the ball plenty, helping to slowly, but surely wear down the Robinson defense. Never busted a big run, but chopped away with consistent effort.

NEXT WEEK
Durant will travel to Sickles. Cougars will be looking for their first win of the season after Armwood defeated them 48-6.

Plant will host Robinson. Panthers coming off a tie ball game with Sandy Creek (GA). This is a backyard rivalry and both teams looking for their first win.
