Scouting the North Suncoast – Mitchell

The Mitchell Mustangs have plenty to be excited about heading into spring football. Pasco County’s overall MVP for the 2021 season was 2023 ATH/QB Chris Ferrini (6’3” 195 lbs). He did a little bit of everything for the team last season, but now, Ferrini will be Mitchell’s starting quarterback. He is an all-around talented football player that can be relied upon to consistently make plays and set his team up for success. It will be interesting to see how he continues that reputation as the full-time quarterback. Ferrini is also a very strong student so he is going to have plenty of options to continue playing football going forward. Ferrini’s Junior Highlights

Mitchell’s leading receiver from 2021 is also back. 2023 WR Drayk Simmons (6’ 180 lbs) will give Ferrini a very reliable target who has the speed to score on any touch. Simmons does a great job of getting open and adjusting to throws. He contributed 706 total yards and 8 touchdowns as a junior. He should easily surpass those numbers as a senior.

Simmon’s Junior Highlights

2023 DT Tayshawn Sullivan (6’2” 290 lbs) will be one of the main players to watch on Mitchell’s defense. He has great size for an interior defensive lineman. He explodes off the ball and has the ability to be a very disruptive player with his quickness and physicality. He is a high-energy player that should be heavily evaluated by college coaches this spring.

Lastly, 2024 LB Giovanni “Niko” Ferraro Jr. (5’11” 180 lbs) has the potential to establish himself as one of the top linebackers in the North Suncoast this spring. His sophomore game film shows a fast and physical linebacker with solid instincts. He played the best game of his sophomore year in the tough playoff loss to Wharton. Ferraro stepped up against the toughest opponent they faced all season. His work ethic has been great throughout this off-season so expect to see an even bigger, faster, and stronger version of him on the field this spring.
