Saying Goodbye: Jimmy Van Deilen, (RB/QB), Jeremy Smith (RB, LB, K)

Hello Again: Nate Combs (LB, OL)

Pugh’s View: The Mustangs will miss Van Deilen and Smith’s contributions to say the least. Van Deilen, a signee to D3 Powerhouse Mount Union was the FACA District 14 1A Player of the Year, as well as a member of the Pinellas Co. All Star Team and the All-State South Team. Smith is considered to be an all around tremendous player and they will miss his big plays on both sides of the ball and leadership. Their district does them no favors, but they’ll be ready to play.

Coach Speak: “Last year was a learning year for our team as we played 5 ranked teams and 6 teams that made the playoffs. We are excited about our new district and being able to play like opponents.” –Andre Dobson

Must Have: Attendance at all summer workout and attendance at every practice during the season.

Uh-oh: If the Mustangs cannot get kids to show up to practice on a regular basis, this season could get away from them with the district being so tough. They also play only 4 home games.
