Short Capsule: Not a secret for Newsome or their opponents, but the production of Conner Powers on offense and Joe Worth on defense has to be replaced. The most likely candidate to fill the shoes of the Fishhawk, fullback legend will be one of the same bloodline, Keller Powers, the younger brother of Conner Powers. Keller is no virgin to the power run game of the Wolves as he carried the pigskin 97 times last season for nearly 800 yards. He is very much capable of getting the job done. But durability will be the question as he has never been the man and carried the ball over 200 times in a season as his big bro. Joe Worth totaled 100 tackles in 2010 and his leadership more than anything is what the Wolves seek in order to create a pack of wild dogs on defense.

“Saying Goodbye” (graduation or transfer):
Conner Powers, FB/LB
Joe Worth, TE/LB

“Hello Again” (key returners or potential Impact Players):
Keith Weeks, OC, 2012
Royce Easley, RB/DB, 2012
Brian West, WR, 2012
Will Worth, QB, 2013
Keller Powers, FB, 2013

“Coach Speak”: “Stay focused on getting better and playing discipline football.” ~ Ken Hiscock

“Fun Fact”: Newsome has rushed for more than 2000 yards in the past three seasons. In 2010, the Wolves rushed for nearly 4000 yards (3830).

“Must Have”:
• Do what they do best, run the ball
• Excellent secondary play
• Limit offensive turnovers

“Uh-oh”: The Wolves must control the clock on offense and not allow teams to get up on them by 3 or more TDs early. The Newsome offense is not built to strike fast. It’s built to wear down the defense. If Newsome struggles on defense early in ball games, it will be tough for them to comeback.
