Pugh’s View: This is the first Marauders team to have no playoff experience on the roster since 1995, but CCC is a program back on the rise and it’s no secret that HC John Davis is a major player in that rebirth. They were firmly entrenched as one of the Top 10 teams in the county while still being in many regards 1-2 years away in most people’s eyes. That means the expectations for this year from their passionate fan base will be through the roof. Their district is tricky though. They’ve got two big thorns in their side with Berkeley Prep and Tampa Catholic, but are setting the foundation nicely to be the class of the district for the foreseeable future. This race should be fun to follow during the season.

Must Have: Both lines have experience and some size; maybe not TC’s size, but they’ve got some beef and they need to throw it around in order to be more balanced on offense and compete for 4 quarters against the big boys across the bay. Their QB situation will be another interesting situation, but simply put they must have a win against TC or Berkeley or some may call the season a major disappointment.

Uh-Oh: Lack of depth is an issue, but this is nothing new with the small schools as we’ve established. As mentioned, their “must have” could turn into a huge “oh-oh” if the new offseason workout and conditioning program doesn’t take effect. The Marauders were manhandled physically at times last season. They’ve made it a priority, now it’s time to see the fruits of their labor pay off.
