Short Capsule: John Booth is trying to build, trying to build a program where the players believe they are the predators and not the prey. Simply put, it’s time for the Bulls to win. 5 of the 8 loses last season, the Bulls allowed the opposing team to score 30 points or more. The emphasis this year will be to piece together a defense that will give the Bulls a chance to win. With the departure of LBs Zach Vath and Jovanni Rodriguez, there is opportunity for a few hungry replacements to become the center pieces of a developing defense. If the front 7 for the Bulls can fuse together this spring, it will allow for a solid platform heading into fall camp. Coach Booth also expects Adam Posateri, WR; Brandon Gosdoski, DB and Gerard Trott,CB to make key contributions.

“Saying Goodbye” (graduation or transfer):
Donny Suchan, WR
Zach Vath, LB
Jovanni Rodriguez, OLB

“Hello Again” (key returners or potential Impact Players):
Eugene Baker, RB, 2013
Cody Crouse, QB, 2013
David Dittfeld, QB, 2014
Sean Minnifield, WR, 2012
Tashawn Mitchell, CB, 2012

“Coach Speak”: “I’m very optimistic heading into our spring season. We are returning 14 out of 22 starters from last year’s team. Last year I really feel we had many chances to come out on top, however we just didn’t get the job done when we needed to. I believe this season will be a much better one for us. Much due to the fact that the majority of our starters have 2-3 years of varsity experience under their belts.” ~ John Booth

“Fun Fact”: In 2008, Bloomingdale reached the state playoffs for the 1st time in school history. Under the direction of Jason Stokes, the Bulls went 6-5, entering as district runner-up, eventually seeing their Cinderella season end with a loss in the 1st round to Lakeland (6-48).

“Must Have”:
• Replace departing linebackers
• Put the ball in the hands of one QB. Attempt to eliminate two QB system
• Get RB, Eugene Baker the ball more
• “Offensively, we have to be more effective in the Red zone. Too many times last season we left points off the scoreboard when we were inside the 20. We have to execute at a high percentage in this area, in order to be successful. Defensively, we have to stop the big play. It is really just getting back to proper fundamentals-wrapping up, getting all 11 players to the ball, and being discipline in coverage.” ~ John Booth

“Uh-oh”: Bloomingdale must find a way to get to the opposing team’s quarterback more often. As a defense, the Bulls only totaled 15 sacks on the season in 2010. On offense the Bulls must limit the offensive turnovers.
