Sickles missed the playoffs this year by one win. A little controversy could have put them in and given them a chance to reach the class 6A state title game. What was not controversial was the impact, senior WR Bilal Salat had on the team.
This season, Salat accounted for 36 receptions, 499 receiving yards, and 7 receiving TDs. He led the team in receptions, receiving yards, yards per catch, yards per game and receiving TDs. His best game was against Brandon when he caught 5 passes for 116 yards and 2 TDs.
Prior to the season, Salat held verbal offers from: Liberty, Ball State, Tennessee State. Currently, Salat says his interests is leaning towards Marshall and Liberty, “I really like Liberty and Marshall”. Salat is a receiver who can play in the slot or split out wide. Strong hands and very athletic. He runs crisp routes and has really good speed.
“I have Marshall coming up on the 18th”. Salat has a visit set up on January 18th to Marshall. He also tells us that the coaching changes amongst the college football programs have not really effected him. “Lately, Marshall, Liberty, and Charleston Southern have come on kinda strong”.
IN HIS OWN WORDS
The closer you get to the end you can really tell who [college football programs] wants you.
