HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY

Robinson’s Rd1 opponent, Port Orange Atlantic

The Robinson Knights 9-1, will host Atlantic 8-2, from Port Orange, FL this Friday night for the first round of the FHSAA playoffs.

Robinson is a very athletic team with a stingy defense and athletic offense. QB Zain Gilmore makes the team go along with the grit and grind of RB Martin Ruiz and the homerun ability of ATH Carlos Duclos.

ATLANTIC OBSERVATIONS
OFFENSE

Atlantic QB, Alex Bell drives the offensive unit. The success or lack there of, depends on his play. He does a decent job with his play-action and runs fairly well. However, Atlantic does not have a plethora of offensive speed or skill. The offensive line is not very athletic and will have a tough time versus the Robinson defensive line.

Atlantic does a few different things on offense. They have shown to attempt a power run game and run down hill. They also showed lots of misdirection, playaction and “trick plays”.

DEFENSE
Not many observations here. They are a base 50 front and mix in a traditional 9-3-1-6 even front. Often sending blitzes from the edge of the defense. They are almost an exclusive man to man coverage secondary. Will they play man to man vs. Robinson’s zone read offense? We will see. The line backers tend to get caught up in traffic often and the defensive line is upfield and does not gap control very well.

The special teams are not very good. On film, it looks like the special teams do not get much attention. Especially the FG team.

OVERALL
Atlantic is a good team. Not as good as Robinson. Robinson will have to total self destruct in order to lose this game.
