Robinson’s Malik Tyson (2016) has been a model of consistency when it comes to putting in the time it takes to get better at his position over the years. The 6-foot-2, 180-pound signal-caller simply shows up to any and every event he can find during the offseason, puts in his work and has kept a steady progression that’s ready to  make him the heart-and-soul of this Knights squad for the coming season. Tyson took his lumps last year as the Knights went 4-6 in 2014, completing a district gauntlet that included 6A state finalists Armwood along with Hillsborough and Jefferson as well as their annual rivalry game with Plant. Tyson completed 86-of-190 passes for just over 1,000 and 9 touchdowns. Not exactly the numbers he would have hoped for, but Tyson was also facing some of the best defensive lines and secondaries in the entire state and country (much less county) week-in and week-out and was on the run quite a bit.

This year rings anew for Robinson and with a reclassification moving to 5A and a much more manageable district including Spoto, Middleton, Jesuit and Jefferson. Tyson should now have more opportunities to showcase what his highlight and his combine films have already shown; that he is a very good dual-threat QB with good instincts and quick feet on top of possessing a very strong arm. When he is on the run and gets his shoulders and feet square to the target, he’s dangerous. With clear throwing lanes and time to set his feet, he can be downright lethal.
