Prospects possibly to be Fire Ranked

AJ Deshommes, Lakeland

After each BCP Showcase, our area athletes will have the opportunity to move up or move in the BCP Fire 79 rankings. On June 8th, 150 area athletes will compete again for the opportunity to get noticed and get ranked. Over the past few weeks, we have traveled the area observing, sizing and getting preliminary evaluations on potential college prospects. Several athletes caught our attention and the ones below have a chance at making our ranking.

Stanley Smith, Lake Wales 2016 WR – lots of range, long arms, 6-3 track athlete.

Devonte Prioleau, Lake Wales 2015 DT – physical interior player, strong lower body and able to defeat double teams.

Darrell Turner, Tampa Bay Tech 2016 RB – big body back, surprising good speed and expected toughness.

Isaiah Brown, Tampa Bay Tech 2016 S – centerfield player with the ability to track the ball in the air. Can also play press man coverage.

Sekendrick Biddines, Lakewood 2015 ATH – good hips and speed. Depending on the needs of a college programs, Biddines can be a great cover corner or possession receiver.

Trevor Laurent, Armwood 2016 WR – strong hands, good speed and aggressive. Nimble in small spaces and elusive in the open field.

Kevin Newman, Jesuit 2015 RB – deceptively agile. Very consistent runner. Inside and outside threat, strong knee lift and great balance.

Parker Looney, Jesuit 2016 LB – a plugger in the middle of the defense. More athletic than expected. Big body with room to grow and improve overall strength.

Brandon Drayton, Largo 2016 WR – length, speed and athleticism. Very competitive athlete. Also a contributor on the Packer basketball team.

AJ Deshommes, Lakeland 2015 DT – big bully who shows flashes of dominance. Will need to be more consistent in 2014. Massive body and powerful at the point of attack.

Kal-El Williams, Pinellas Park 2015 LB – leadership qualities are more attractive than any other part of his game. Hard hitting, gap stuffing and traffic avoiding backer.

Michael Wiggs, Lake Gibson 2016 OL – really good technique. Great hands and extension in pass pro. Quick feet and set up.

Leon Green, Lake Gibson 2016 DE – slightly undersized, not outmatched. Good explosion and anticipation. Speed pass rusher and uses hands well.

Anthony Foster, St. Petersburg 2015 LB/RB – one of the more underrated linebackers in the area. Very physical and instinctive. Plays the perimeter runs as well as he does the interior runs.

Malik Barrow, Tampa Catholic 2016 DT – Becoming a more confident player and it shows. Strong upper body and increasingly improving footwork.
