Gibbs Albert McCoy is a big man who is powerful and can occupy blockers yet quick enough to provide a pass rush. McCoy was virtually a no name going into the 2011 season. College coaches generally look for a player who is between 6-3 and 6-6 and weighs in 240 pounds and up. McCoy fits that description. At 6-5 and 268 pounds, McCoy sheds blocks very well, has good lateral agility and is able to clear piles. He has only been playing football since high school so he is still developing. Improvement will come in his hand use and balance. Right now, his footwork is ok, but will get better with time, coaching and reps.

The best defensive tackles are extremely good run stoppers and fierce pass rushers. They possess quick hands, body control and are able to change directions.
