MANATEE COUNTY RECRUITING

Prospect Focus: Southeast’s Derrick Bradley

It’s foolish to judge a book by it’s cover, and in football–your frame is the book. You see examples all the time concerning “undersized” guys that inevitably force you to put them in to make plays because they refuse to let that size be the sole determination for their success. The Southeast Seminoles may just have one of those playmakers.

Derrick Bradley (5-7/147) is a member of the Class of 2018 and plays the free safety position for the ‘Noles, but was at Ignite getting reps with the cornerbacks and with his determination and skill set–we can expect to hear his name called early-and-often for the ‘Noles for the next two seasons.

Southeast was a 1-9 team during Bradley’s freshman season–a season he spent on junior varsity, but the ‘Noles turned things around in grand fashion making the playoffs–even though they finished 5-6 and Bradley’s contributions to Southeast’s Defense were as good as you could have possibly hoped from a first-year starter.

Bradley totaled 52 tackles–32 solo–with four tackles for loss playing at his free safety spot. He also chipped-in with a sack and a QB hurry plus three interceptions that saw him total 55 yards in returns on those INT’s in addition to breaking up 11 passes, causing three fumbles and blocking two field goals.

Bradley’s an active player on defense that loves to make contact with the ball carrier as soon as he’s located plus is an aggressive defender when the ball is in the air so get ready to see more of the same in terms of production if the young man continues to develop. We know the ‘Noles are happy to have him around–and so are we–that we can now track the progress of this player for some time to come.
