Pot Luck – Underrated 2013 DL

As National Signing Day approaches the players in the 2012 class will make their decisions and take the next step in their football careers. With a large graduating class in 2012 teams will have to look elsewhere for a spark up front. The 2013 class is extremely deep so not everyone is getting the attention they deserve. Below is a look at just a few of the underrated 2013 DL.

There are plenty of defensive linemen that could make this list, but one really stands out as being underrated and somewhat overlooked.  Tampa Bay Tech, DT, Jevon Fripp is one of the most athletic defensive tackles in Hillsborough County.  Having seen him on many occasions he has a good take off and uses his hands very well.  He is aggressive at the point of attack and can find his way through traffic.  Fripp is bottom heavy, standing around 6-1/270 and plays with a good pad level.  I feel he needs to improve on developing a few pass rush moves and upper body strength.  He is a promising 2013 prospect that should get plenty of attention during the spring. – Preston Jackson

Clifton Dilworth – Tampa Bay Tech – on a line that will be graduating big man Ka’Desh Reaves, Dilworth will be a big player to keep the Titans’ district title hopes alive in Class 7A-District 7. – Jeff Odom

When your team finishes 2-9 its tough to get your name out there in the world of recruiting. Chamberlain DL Norman Sherman is experiencing this first hand. At 6-2 265 lbs Sherman is a big body in the middle of the line and should warrant some attention when spring rolls around. He finished 2011 with 41 tackles; Sherman’s best game came in a loss to Freedom when the junior made 7 tackles. – Kyle Bennett
