POLK COUNTY RECRUITING RECRUITING FEATURES

Polk County QB Breakdown

We have stepped into Polk County and no place better to start than with the QBs.  To start, we select 5 gunslingers we feel could contend for top QB spots in Polk. Take a minute to read the evaluation and select the link to view their film.

Trey Congdon – 2014 QB – Lake Gibson – SEE FILM
Extremely good ball placement and zip on appropriate throws. Shows good mechanics and footwork. Not a runner, but ability to escape the rush. Great job on play action fakes.  Seems to have a high football IQ and understanding of the concept of each play. Reads defenses and coverages and anticipated receivers to come open.

Christian Alexander – 2015 QB – Lakeland Christian – SEE FILM
Very noticeable is arm strength. Just a rising junior and Alexander can wing the deep ball and zip the intermediate ball. Sweet runner, but a passer first. Does a great job staying alive in the pocket and allowing the routes to develop. Good play action fakes with developing mechanics. Throws receivers open.

Railond Garrett – 2014 QB – Lake Wales – SEE FILM
We have raved about this young man before. He attended our Ignite Showcase and did very well. What is evident on his film is his footwork; needs some work. Can be correct. His delivery needs some work. Can be corrected. But what you can’t coach is his size, arm strength, mobility and pocket awareness. This kid has a chance to pop if some college QB coach sees his upside and is willing to put in the extra time with him.

Dimitri Leverett – 2014 QB/ATH – Bartow – SEE FILM
Can throw a dagger and squeeze balls into traffic. Throws a pretty deep ball with fantastic ball placement. Pretty delivery, however needs work on mechanics. Arm strength is easy to see and has good touch on different throws.

Jay Smith – 2014 QB/ATH – Fort Meade – SEE FILM
We would project him as an ATH because of his athleticism and ability to play multiple positions. However, breaking him down as a QB, he runs well and throws a good second level ball. Freelances at times with his mechanics, but fells pressure well. Ability to make something from nothing.

Xavier Gaines – 2016 QB – Frostproof – Film not available for public view at the time
Whoa! Throws a great ball on the run going in either direction (left or right). Fair touch and good ball placement. Very mobile and good mechanics as a young QB. Developing footwork and delivery. Throws a tight spiral and feels the collapse of the pocket. Great escapability.
