PINELLAS PARK —
Another season, another target on the back of the Plant Panthers.
The Associated Press released their preseason football poll, and Plant comes in at No. 1 in Class 8A. The defending state champions received 10 first-place votes.
Manatee is another Bay-area team receiving some high praise entering 2012. They enter the season ranking No. 1 in Class 7A, while receiving 10 first-place votes as well.
In Class 6A, there’s going to be a battle brewing between Miami Central and Armwood, who comes in at No. 2 in the preseason poll. Countryside, Pasco, Jesuit, Berkeley Prep and Admiral Farragut are also ranked in their respective classes.
All Bay-area teams are in bold.
