Our Facebook Fans have spoken: The Dream Games

Our FACEBOOK FANS have spoken. Robinson vs anybody would be the game they want to see. The remarkable season the RHS Knights put together made them the most popular team for the 2012 season. Many or our fans would love to see them play again.

On our FACEBOOK FAN PAGE we posted the question “If one more game could be played to conclude the 2012 Tampa football season, which two teams would you like to see face off? Any two teams from the Tampa bay area”. The thread took fire in a short period of time and Robinson was on every other comment. But, which two teams would we love to see?

1) Plant at East Lake
Everyone wanted this rematch. The 2011 3rd round playoff game is held as one of the greatest in recent years. This year, East Lake was playing for payback. A season dedicated to defeating the Panthers from Plant. It never happened because Plant lost to Dr. Phillips and then Dr. Phillips downed East Lake. If, the two teams would have matched up, we would have wanted it to be played at East Lake. In their community where the team and the fans all wanted payback. The game had “classic” written all over it. Record setting QB Pete Dinovo against, Aaron Banks. D1 East Lake WRs Artavis Scott vs D1 Plant defensive backs Paris Bostick and Mazzi Walkins. Weiner vs Hudson and the ever supportive Plant fans vs the growing fan base of the East Lake Eagles. Classic!

2) Hillsborough at Robinson
Only a few places have the game day environment like Robinson high school. This game would have to be played at Robinson to get the full feeling of the playoffs with kids playing behind the stadium, motorcycles riding on the track, past alum littered all around the field. The Terriers this season were steady. Gritty defense and an improving offense vs the high flying offense and stingy defense of the Robinson Knights. Could Zain Gilmore out run the Terrier secondary? Is Dwayne Lawson poised enough to rip the Robinson defense? Could Martin Ruiz eat at the Terrier LBs and would Nigel Harris make the Robinson defensive line part of his hilite film? I guess we will never know.

3) Hillsborough County’s best 40 vs Pinellas County’s best 40
The problem with the separation of Hillsborough County football and Pinellas County football is, neither side (besides the 5A-8 district) play each other until the playoffs or on film. So naturally, the Hillsborough side would be defensive as well as the Pinellas side, as they did HERE . The truth is, the game would be highly competitive. Pinellas would have the advantage at the QB position with Pete Dinovo and Tracy Johnson. WRs would be a toss up: Marquez Valdez and Rodney Adams are two of the best in the state from the Pinellas side vs Jonathan Moore , Travis Johnson and Karel Hamilton from Hillsborough. The RBs? Ryan Green is the definition of the position. But he stands alone as a premier 2013 RB from Pinellas. Robert Davis and Wesley Bullock are as good as advertised from Hillsborough County. Offensive line could go either way. The crew from Jesuit, combined with the kids from Robinson. Throw in Aaron Evans from Armwood and a few from TBT and Durant. Size them up with the boys from Countryside and Lakewood, mixed up with Gibbs and Boca and you have a good crew. Linebackers? Take your pick. They are good on both sides. Griffin twins, Brinson and Juwan Brown in the secondary for Pinellas vs L3 (Leon McQuay), Godwin, Hargreaves and Bostick for Hillsborough County….wow! Toss in some athletes like Richard Benjamin, Will Worth, Zain Gilmore and Nigel Harris for Hillsborough vs McCullough, Muhammad and Todd Macon for Pinellas and you have two teams that would put on a show.
