University of Tampa defeated Xavier 34-7 behind Freddie Solomon who threw for 133 yards with 2 tds and ran for 54 yards including a 45 yard td run. RB Alan Pittman (Largo High) chipped in 95 yards rushing & a TD on 13 carries at Tampa Stadium.

Gibbs High school routed Northside Christian 80-0. The Gladiators had 9 rushing TDs, 2 INTs returned for TDs and a Kick off return in the game played at St.Pete High’s Stewart field.

At Northeast, the Vikings blanked the Largo Packers 14-0. The Packers were held to 32 yards of total offence.

Manatee beat Jefferson 27-18. The Hurricanes were led by Alvin Smalls 2 rushing tds. Smalls would sign to play QB at University of Tampa before transferring to University of Tennessee-Martin after Tampa’s football program folded.
