Scouting Combine set for Feb. 28 – March 6

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Nine former University of Miami football players have accepted invitations to the 2017 NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis. This year’s scouting combine will take place on Feb. 28 – March 6 inside Lucas Oil Stadium.

NFL Network will provide live coverage of the event. Miami’s nine invites to the scouting combine are tied for the most among schools in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC).

Safety Jamal Carter, Sr., wide receiver Stacy Coley, cornerback Corn Elder, offensive lineman Danny Isidora, safety Rayshawn Jenkins, quarterback Brad Kaaya, defensive end Al-Quadin Muhammad, tight end David Njoku and punter Justin Vogel were each invited to the league’s primary scouting event.

Carter, Sr. received an invitation to the combine after was one of the Hurricanes’ top defensive contributors this past season. In 2016, he led the team in tackles with 85. His 85 stops were a single-season career best. The Naranja, Fla., native saw action in all 13 games and emerged as one of the team leaders in 2016 as he served as team captain in six games.

Coley earned a spot in the combine after he posted single-season career bests in receptions (63), yards (754) and touchdowns (nine). Coley’s nine touchdowns ranked third in the ACC, while his 63 receptions led the team. Following his senior season, Coley earned All-ACC honors for the third time in his career. In 49 career games, Coley has hauled in 168 receptions (second all-time) for 2,218 yards (fifth) and 20 touchdowns (tied for fourth).

Elder will head to Indianapolis following a senior season which saw him earn All-ACC Second Team honors. He closed the regular season as the team’s fourth-leading tackler with 76 stops (55 solo). The Nashville, Tenn., native started every game during the 2016 campaign and was responsible for a team-best 12 pass breakups.

Isidora’s invitation to the event came after an All-ACC performance on the Hurricanes’ offensive line. The Weston, Fla., native started every regular season game for the third consecutive season. His 39 straight starts rank sixth in school history. In addition, Isidora helped the Hurricanes rush for 151.8 yards per game.

Jenkins received an invitation to the combine after he was named All-ACC Honorable Mention. The St. Petersburg, Fla., native recorded 76 tackles, including a team-best 56 solo tackles during the 2016 season. He also posted seven pass breakups and led the team in interceptions with two during the regular season.

Kaaya was named to the NFL combine roster following a decorated Miami career in which he started in 38 games and became the school’s all-time career leader in passing yards (9,968), completions (720) and attempts (1,188). This past season, the Los Angeles native posted single-season career highs in completions (261), attempts (421), yards (3,532) and touchdowns (27). Over the final five games of his collegiate career, Kaaya threw 14 touchdown passes and had just one interception.

Njoku earned a spot in Indianapolis following a 2016 campaign which was his best as a Hurricane. This past season, the New Jersey native posted single season bests in receptions (43), receiving yards (698) and touchdowns (8) en route to earning ACC all-conference honors.

Vogel’s invitation to the scouting combine came following a senior season where he earned All-ACC honors for the third time in his career. He closed out his senior season, averaging 43.8 yards per punt and dropped 25 punts inside the 20-yard line.

Muhammad will head to the scouting combine after he played two seasons with the Hurricanes in 2013 and 2015. He finished his career with 62 total tackles and 7.0 sacks.
