The Wolves’ Wing-T offensive attack is averaging close to 26 points and 400 yards per game.

We caught up with a few 2011 BCP Combine participants to update their statuses.

Will Worth 2013 QB | 6-1 195: Worth has commanded the Newsome offense and has really taken the Wolves two drives away from being 5-1 (one-score losses to Jefferson and Hillsborough).

The junior quarterback has already thrown for over 500 yards and is completely nearly 50 percent of his passes (37-79).

Worth has not received any offers yet, but says that he has received a handful of letters and is doing his best to get in contact with the coaches to remain on their radars.

He says that he has received letters from Kansas, Wisconsin, Mississippi State and Kentucky. “I believe they’re interested in me at QB, but not really sure because I still have to go get in contact with them so I can schedule a visit this off season,” Worth explained. He also plays linebacker and is the team’s third-leading tackler.

Although Newsome isn’t a huge passing team, Worth says that his focus is on helping the team get more wins and make the most out of his opportunities when he is called on to throw the ball.

“We’re not a big passing team, and I know that but I’m just trying to take advantage of the opportunities any time my number is called … also two minute drives and taking advantage of those situations.”

Worth’s biggest focus offensively is trying to improve his accuracy and prove to colleges that he can run any offensive set.

“Whenever colleges see my highlight tape or watch my game film I don’t want them to see any flaws and just try to put myself out there as much as possible I want them to see that even though we don’t run a passing offense I can succeed in all of theirs and I can control the offense when we’re on the field.”

Clint Carnell 2013 RB | 5-10 180: Carnell is the second-leading rusher in the Wolves’ Wing-T offensive attack. He has rushed for 359 yards on 44 carries (8+ yards per carry average) and four touchdowns.

Carnell described himself as the teams outside running back, he hold a long rush of 72 yards. “I love it,” he said of the team’s Wing-T attack. “It gives us a lot of options and keeps the defense guessing … I think it’s a good offense.”

The junior running back says that he hasn’t received much attention thus far, but Wisconsin has sent him a few questionnaires.

“I been going to the gym a lot and lifting weights to get my strength up,” Carnell said. “I’ve also been doing a lot of conditioning with speed boxes and knee ladders to get my endurance and speed up so I can go around the outside.”

Newsome will finish off its season with two home district games (versus Durant and Riverview) before traveling to Plant City for its final district game of the year. The Wolves will end their regular season in Valrico as they take on Bloomingdale.

“We’re just trying to get the district championship,” Worth said. “We’ve got a big district game coming up against Durant and Plant City down the road so we’re just trying to get ready and hopefully finish off the season strong.”
