MVPs take home the Blue from Ignite

2014 BHSN/BCP IGNITE SHOWCASE MVPs

QB Garrison Bryant, Clearwater 2016
Bryant was very consistent throughout the day. Took coaching and rarely made the same mistake twice. He was solid with his mechanics and threw well all day long. His performance during combo routes with the receivers, led to an outstanding performance during 1 on 1s with the defensive backs. Put some balls in the corner pocket and threw the intermediate routes well.

RB Jesse Holmes, Spoto 2015
Holmes arguably had the best feet of all the running backs at the showcase. He was quick between the hurdles, balanced, smooth and performed will in blitz pick-up. In 1 on 1 vs the linebackers, he ran good routes and caught the ball extremely well. Used his quickness to gain a step on the defense and create space for the passer.

WR Tavares Chase, Plant City 2016
The young receiver is starting to emerge as a seasoned veteran. He has developed a few different release moves at the line of scrimmage, showed great footwork and ball skills. He caught the ball extremely well all day and made his QBs look good. You can tell he has been in the weight room as his frame is developing and looking more defined.

OL Trevon Kelly, Lakewood 2015
Who? Just wow! This young man completely shutdown the showcase. He was almost unbeatable in 1 on 1s. Strong lower body, good hand placement and vicious. His play spoke so loud; he didn’t have to do much talking. The best of the interior defensive linemen stepped up and got turned away. He balled!

DL Scott Patchan, Freedom 2015
Patchan is now a two time, BCP Ignite Showcase DL MVP. He was great. Great in drills, great in 1 on 1s and great in King of the Ring. What makes him so good is his take off. He fires off from a three-point stance as good as any defensive lineman in the state!

LB Sawyer Dawson, Plant City 2015
This could be the tip of the Iceberg for Dawson. His 2013 year was great. But let’s focus on his showcase performance. Hips, feet and explosion, he has them all. However, what separated him from the competitions was his ability to get to the QB and cover the RBs in space.

S Justin Strnad, East Lake 2015
As Justin was receiving his MVP award, kids and parents were whispering, “That’s a safety?” He is so long and runs so well, that Strnand will be a very attractive prospect. He transitioned well in drills, showing hips and feet. He had a solid performance in 1 on 1s making plays vs. some of quicker receivers.

CB Demetrius Mann, King 2015
The decision to name a cornerback MVP was the toughest of all, explained by the defensive back coaches. Nate Ferguson and Demetrius Mann were so tight that it came down to which players made one or two more impressive plays during 1 on 1s. Mann edged out Ferguson by the slimmest margin. He was aggressive and fearless when the ball was in the air. Displayed tight man to man coverage and sweet feet in drill work.
