Powers opened eyes on more than one occasion for us. His ability to score the basketball from inside and out makes him a very attractive prospect. He understands spacing, ball movement and makes the best basketball play. Has the ability to put the ball on the ground and beat his defender in isolation situations and move without the basketball.

This year, Brian will take on an increased role as a team leader and primary scorer. His top 3 individual goals this season are to “Improve my free throw percentage, my points per game, and to be more aggressive in the game.” He has the potential to reach all of his individual goals this year with the experience of his off-season work. “During the off season I improved my shooting, ball handling and trained daily to get into better shape. And the showcases showed me what type of competition I will be going up against throughout my season.”

Recruiting has not taken off just yet for the junior prospect, but it may. First things first, Powers needs to have a solid season, increase his numbers and continue to improve his game. He wants to make a name for himself; “I don’t think I’ve made a name for myself this off season. Which motivates me to get better and improve my game. Doing training over the summer has dramatically improved my speed and vertical. I have gotten a lot more aggressive and I am able to score off the dribble much more now.”
