Yesterday morning, 150 athletes took the field at Tropicana Stadium for the annual Under Armour Underclassmen Combine. Not many high profile local talent was there, but the ones who were, had a solid day.
Ryan Davis, Lakewood 2015 QB/ATH
Davis arguably had the best day overall. He showed quicks and speed in 1 on 1s and 7 on 7. Did a great job getting off the line vs. press man to man coverage and blew past a few defensive backs. Very good footwork in his route running and loose hips.
Deon Cain, Tampa Bay Tech 2015 QB/ATH
We have seen Cain run routes and catch footballs for the past year now. Not a surprise at all that he did so well at this event. His long stride allows him to eat up defensive backs that are playing loose man coverage. He did a really good job with his head fakes when getting in and out of his breaks.
George Campbell, East Lake 2015 ATH/WR
We can see George is building confidence and getting better at his craft. Campbell did a good job creating space on the sideline. Did not get much help from his passers a few times. Balls were late, high, low, all over the place. But, when he had a chance, he made a few plays.
