Local guys “opening” their eyes this week

Nike’s “The Opening” for 2015 takes place at their world headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon all this week and you can watch a few local guys on ESPN compete in the ultimate “best-on’best” along with some other players that are headed off to one of the “big three” schools in the not-so-distant future.

Nate Craig-Myers from Tampa Catholic will compete for Team Alpha Pro this week, while Tony Jones Jr. from IMG Academy (formerly of St. Pete Catholic) is on Team Fly Rush’s roster. Another IMG Academy teammate or Jones Jr. is Saivion Smith formerly of Boca Ciega. The LSU-committ is on Team Superbad. Lake Gibson’s Baveon Johnson fresh from an impressive camp at BCP’s The Xecutives is on Team Mach Speed. Johnson is an FSU commit.

Florida State has seven players at this week’s event committed, while the University of Miami has two players. Cocoa’s Chauncey Gardner is the lone-representative for the University of Florida this week.
