Lions Roaring In Lakeland

Lakeland, FL – What a difference Halftime can make. The Sagemont  Lions entered the break at The Lakeland Center down by eight. When  the clock hit zeros, they were winning by twelve. Although it wasn’t  how they envisioned the way things should play out they were  comforted by the fact that in the end, it was the only statistic that  mattered. The Lions used a 38-18 2nd Half scoring performance to  secure their 1st State Championship in any sport by a score of 53-41.

Forward Jeff Coby was nearly unstoppable as he singlehandedly kept  the Lions within reach of the prize, then scored six very precious points when they needed them the most. The junior finished the game with 19 points.

The game was back-and-forth for much of the 1st Half. The Royals of First Academy were attacking Sagemont at the rim and were capitalizing on some sloppy play early by the Lions.   That was not to be the norm however as First Academy went ice cold in the 3rd and 4th Quarters; shooting a meager 18%. Junior Dillon Graham led TFA with 18. Another sour taste in the mouth of Royals Fans was the 2-for-16 shooting from 3pt range for the game.
