Lake Wales hammers Auburndale 37-7

Justin Henderson carries Auburndale defenders

Bright House Sports Network writes: Lake Wales got what they needed in Auburndale, a dominating 37-7 win over the Bloodhounds. A win next week over winless Tenoroc will give them a district title.

Before they claim their district title, they needed to take care of business against their rivals. Justin Henderson rushed for 155 yards and 2 touchdowns, leading the Highlanders to an easy win.- SEE HERE with video

That is pretty much spot on. Justin Henderson was a monster last night. Best player on the field only rivaled by teammate RB Ernest Hamilton. Henderson provided a much needed punch for the Lake Wales offense, which was not very crisp in the first half. His overpowering approach set the tone for both the offense and defense, which sparked at late first half scoring spree and second half route. Time after time it took several Auburndale defenders to bring down the Lake Wales leading rusher.

RB Ernest Hamilton also added his two-cents, adding salt to the wound Henderson opened. Hamilton showed quickness and burst. On one run, it looked like he was shot out of a cannon. Both backs complimented each other very well; Thunder and lightning.

Defensively, the Highlanders were too much. They pushed the line of scrimmage back, got penetration and were sure tacklers. The linebackers were very disciplined as it was evident they were well prepared for the misdirection offense. Not once did the Lake Wales defense look lost or puzzled. Evident, the coaches did a great job throughout the week of practice.

One bright spot for the Bloodhounds was “RB Jessie Britt would score from 14 yards out on a pass from QB Tyler Wilkinson. Britt would finish with 82 total yards on the night.” – BHSN. Britt carried the load for the Hounds with junior RB Wilbur Cooper sharing the reps. Both backs did not have much room to work, but a few times, the Hounds pasted together some good drives with the mixture of Cooper and Britt running inside and outside.

At the end of the night, Lake Wales solidified their playoff spot and Auburndale still has a chance to make the playoffs.
