This Year’s “Versus Their Schedule” Today we look at Lake Gibson. Below is the Braves’ 2014 football schedule and the series between each team they will play this year.
Vs. George Jenkins, Lake Gibson has a 20-1 lead. The Braves have played the Eagles each year since the opening of the school in 1993. The game this season played on the 29th will be the 22nd year these two clubs have faced off.
Vs. Bartow, The Braves have not played the Yellow Jackets since 2012. That contest was won by Lake Gibson. However, Bartow holds an 11-15 series lead and will face the Braves this year on September 5th.
Vs. Kathleen, The Red Devils have a 5 game lead on this series leading 15-20. Last years’ controversial, multi overtime period win by Kathleen did nothing but rekindle the fire. Lake Gibson has won 4 of the last 5 meetings between the two Polk County powers.
Vs. Palmetto, 1-0 and that win last year was in pretty impressive fashion defeating Palmetto 42-3.
Vs. Winter Haven, Now the all time series is close. Lake Gibson leads 16-13. However, Winter Haven has owned this game the past 6 years, winning 5 of those and at one point 4 in a row including last year’s 35-30 win over the Braves.
Vs. Auburndale, 14-19. I know how it looks. Surprising that Adale leads this series. But, don’t move too fast. According to Maxpreps, Lake Gibson has won the last 9 games vs. the Hounds dating all the way back to 2004!
Vs. Lake Region, Not a long history for the Thunder. The School has only been playing football since 1995. Lake Gibson has 12-3 series lead on Lake Region including a 52-0 win last season and 41-7 win the season prior.
Vs. Largo, The two County powers faced-off last year and will again in 2014. Braves won in 2013 by the score of 28-14. They hold a 1-0 series lead.
Vs. Sebring, Lake Gibson has been pretty dominant. The Braves will take their 6-1 series lead into Sebring this season on October 31st hoping to keep the winning tradition going.
Vs. Ridge Community, The two teams have played each season since 2005. 5-0 lead is held by Lake Gibson with the Braves outscoring Ridge 177-43.
