Tampa, FL – Another good day for Bay Area QBs. Bennie Coney (Plant City), Jacob Guy (Pasco), Pete Dinovo (East Lake), Nate Mills (Sickles) and Brandon Hawkins (Alonso) all participated in a mid morning training session with QB instructors John Kaleo and Chip Bennett. Kaleo and Bennett train Bay Area QBs weekly, but organized this session in attempt to get the some of the best around in one place at one time. Others were invited but could not make it for various reasons. The kids were put through a number of QB drills where Kaleo and Bennett could evaluate each and correct small mistakes which will help each kid make strides to be better QBs. In my opinion, today is the best I have seen Bennie Coney look. He was very crisp in his movements and mechanics. Coney was very attentive to coaching points and never made the same mistake twice. I think he got better in just a few hours as he took the coaching points that were given and implemented them in following reps. I am a big fan of rising junior, Pete Dinovo. Pete still throws the best ball on the run. He was very accurate today and it is evident that he has worked on his weaknesses. He shows flashes of being an elite passer. Jacob Guy from Pasco is a big boy, with plenty of room to improve. He stands about 6-4/225lbs and looks the part. He looked pretty good today, but I need to see more of him to give an honest observation. Brandon Hawkins was good today. Excellent ball placement and footwork. Nate Mills looked his best when stationary. When he used his lower body strength, he threw some good ball.
