HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY RECRUITING

Josh Anderson, Lennard vs Joe Ryan, Plant

Maxpreps tells a story that Lennard fans may not want to read. We think Josh Anderson, Lennard is one of the best ILB prospects in the area in the 2016 class, standing 6-1/235. But, Joe Ryan, Plant (LB, 2016, 6-0/205) production is off the charts.

Plant has championships, history and a long list of good to great players who have worn the uniform. Lennard still doesn’t have rust on the lockers it is so new. The Longhorn’s first varsity football season was in 2006. Though the gap is still pretty big with the quantity and quality of players each program produces, the gap is reducing. Starting with Josh Anderson.

Last season Anderson totaled 75 tackles, 8.3 tackles per game. In South Tampa Joe Ryan doubled that with 144 total tackles and 13 tackles per game. Ryan’s numbers were off the chart in 2014 adding an amazing 53 tackles for loss. Anderson is no where near Rayn when the numbers are slapped on the table. They do compare in style of play.

Both player have similar measurements. Anderson a little heavier playing the interior of the defense. Both are downhill physical players that clean up any mess missed by the defensive line. I really like how the Longhorn and Panther find their way through traffic. Football magnets and punish ball carriers. Ryan is more polished as a football player. Anderson is more athletic with raw ability. Rarely will you see either pushed around and overmatched. Both schools have dogs in the middle of their defense.
