It’s never too early: 3 more QB’s from ’17 to watch

We gave you three quarterbacks yesterday from the Class of 2017 that we wanted to make sure you didn’t forget about for this upcoming season. Today, we give you three more signal-callers from the same class that continue to progress nicely for their teams. We give you a quick recap of last season on top of their recent camp performances in addition to a look ahead for the coming fall season.

Austin Sessums, Wiregrass Ranch (5-10.5/167)
Sessums was at Wesley Chapel last season and although it was a season of adversity, this young man has continued to grind. He’ll share reps at the spot with the incumbent Chris Faddoul, but his addition to the roster gives the Bulls an added dimension and it doesn’t appear that they will deviate from the 2-QB rotation any time soon. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it right? Last season Sessums completed 59 of his 128 attempts for 933 yards and 11 touchdowns and will work as hard as he can to help the Bulls succeed on offense regardless of his position. Sessums enjoyed a nice spring game versus Pasco and he and Faddoul were once again posing problems for defenses en route to a title in recent 7-on competition in Winter Garden. The Bulls are in a pretty competitive district to say the least this fall along with stiff tests outside that with in-county contests versus Zephyrhills, Wesley Chapel, Sunlake and Mitchell.

Alec Cromie, Weeki Wachee (6-3,230)
Cromie’s progression will be interesting to follow as the Hornets look to rebound from a tough 1-9 campaign in 2014. He completed 109 of his 241 attempts for 1,346 yards while connecting for 10 touchdowns. Cromie had a nice spring game for the Hornets in their action against Wesley Chapel, a game they won 26-16. He completed 15 of his 22 passes for 224 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. His frame, his relatively raw skill set and his high-GPA definitely give him options and we look forward to checking-in on this young man this fall.

Hayden Lindsey, Hardee (6-1,165)
Lindsey has been a grinder at camps the last two seasons and hopes to help his Wildcats achieve something better than the 5-5 record they posted last season. Lindsey completed 53 of his 158 attempts for just 790 yards and 12 touchdowns, but the Wildcats are known for hanging their hats on the running game and Lindsey was able to average just shy of 7 yards a carry and added another two touchdowns in that department last season. The team averaged nearly 300 yards per game last season and Lindsey as a sophomore was able to manage a third of that from his spot. The Wildcats are in a district with Sarasota-Booker, Lemon Bay, Bayshore, Southeast and long-time rivals DeSoto County from Arcadia. Lindsey will be tested early and often in the first two weeks of the season as Hardee hosts Fort Meade and Frostproof. Should be fun to track this young man’s progression in 2015.
