Tampa, FL – Plant High Head Football Coach, Robert Weiner told BCP “This is a perfect fit for Antonio. He has come a long ways. Georgia Tech. recruited him as a corner and Antonio is excited about his commitment”. Plant High, 2012, ATH, Antonio Crawford committed to Georgia Tech. last night (Friday) after being verbally offered by the Yellow Jacket coaching staff just hours before. I spoke with Crawford after he received the good news from the G Tech. staff about the verbal offer and he seem pretty excited and calm at the same time.

In 2010, Crawford did it all for the Panthers. He amassed 131 yards rushing on 14 attempts; 656 yards receiving with 52 receptions and 7 touchdowns, while on offense. On defense, he worked opposite of corner back Eric Patterson and often neutralized the opponent’s best receivers. He totaled 55 tackles, 29 of them were solo tackles; 3 interceptions and 15 pass break ups. Luckily for Crawford, Charles Kelly, Defensive Secondary Coach for the Yellow Jackets, also was in charge of recruiting the Tampa Bay Area, which allowed for Kelly to pay greater attention to the players that could possibly be playing for him in the defensive secondary.

Crawford has been an avid BCP standout performer. He took home defensive back MVP honors in March at the Ignite combine. He was one of the most talented and competitive players at the 16 team 9 Route 7 on 7 Tournament (2011 Champions-Plant Panthers) and he also trained at the BCP Elite Defensive back Training session in early June. Crawford currently ranks as the third best cornerback between Hillsborough and Pinellas County in the latest BCP rankings. Other verbal scholarships offers: Ball State, Bowling Green, Ohio and FIU to name a few.
