Quiet as kept, the Alonso Ravens are a very talented team with plenty of young players that have lots of experience.
Running back, Ish Witter (5-8/185lbs) is no longer one of the underclassmen. He is a rising senior and expected to flourish this year. He showed flashes as a sophomore, made strides as a junior (165 carries, 902 yards) and will be a force as a senior.
Ish took the time out to entertain a few questions we had for him about team expectations, goals and recruiting.
BCP How did you mature from you sophomore season to your junior season?
ISH I learned how to trust the hole is there and be patient. But also use my speed more.
BCP Were you ever discouraged during this season?
ISH Yes, a lot of people discouraged me. They told me I couldn’t do what certain Running backs could do and told me I was to small.
BCP What game were you at your best?
ISH The King game – 32 carries, 205 yards and 2 TDs
BCP What is it going to take for Alonso to get over the hump?
ISH Just get bigger and faster. But also believing that we can go far if we just believe.
BCP What team is standing in the way of the Ravens making the playoffs?
ISH The teams that have been getting in our way are Wharton and Plant. But this year will definitely change.
BCP What are your plans for the spring (college visits, camps, combines, etc.)?
ISH My plans are to train more and get better. But just not me, my whole team. I will be taking some trips to certain colleges for there “junior day” and also go to combines.
BCP Which schools are starting to show a strong interest?
ISH Mississippi St., Louisville, South Florida, Kentucky, Ball St. ,Missouri, Arizona, Maryland, Rutgers, and West Virginia
BCP What makes you a legit prospect?
ISH My ability with the ball in my hands. I can make plays.
BCP What are your off season goal?
ISH Get my team better and also myself. But also receive some offers, hopefully.
