Interesting Note: Success of “ICE” Harris

Harris’s nickname, Ice, comes from his childhood emulation of NBA great George “Iceman” Gervin in basketball games, but could just as easily describe his cool and collected demeanor on the sidelines. – Miami News Times

Booker T Washington Head Varsity Football Coach

Played high school football at Miami Jackson class of 1984. Went on to Play three seasons as a defensive back at Carthage College. Returned home to become an assistant coach at Miami High from 1986 to 1996. Moved on to become the offensive coordinator at Northwestern 1997 to 1998. Flipped to Miami Central in 1999-2000 as the offensive coordinator. Flipped again returning to Northwestern 2001-2002 as the offensive coordinator.

Harris became the Head Coach at Booker T Washington in 2003 to 2007 and posted 57-7 record along with 5 consecutive district titles and 1 state championship in 2007. Harris was hired as Sr. Program coordinator for football at University of Miami in 2008-2010 before returning as the Head Coach at Booker T Washington in 2011.

Since his return, he is 23-3 and still playing as a favorite to win his second state title. Currently, Harris has an 80-10 record as the Head Coach of Booker T Washington.

Booker T Washington established as a High school – 1926-1966. Junior High school from 1967-1998. Reopened as a high school in 1999.
