Sam Green, Plant City, S, 2012

Sam Green, Plant City, 2012, Safety stands 6-2/200lbs and towers over many of his offensive opponents. He is not a big talker, but a big time player. His Hilite Film is filled with clips of him striking ball carriers, intercepting passes and dismantling receivers. Sam is not satisfied with what he has accomplished thus far. He gave me a few minutes and this is what he had to say:

BCP: Where should Plant City rank in the Top 25 between Hillsborough and Pinellas County when the BCP preseason rankings drop?
GREEN: I think we should be in the top 5. Somewhere up there!

BCP: How have the seniors approached this season with never have defeated Newsome?
GREEN: Yes, it’s time to win. It’s time to go all the way. This is our last chance to go to state. We are trying to get there.

BCP: After a shutout lose to Armwood in the spring, is Plant City over hyped?
GREEN: We are not over hyped, we are excited. That game is in the past. We are looking at these games coming up, Hillsborough first. We are just excited.

BCP: How competitive is the PC secondary as individuals? Do you guys compete against each other?
GREEN: We compete against each other all the time; to see who can shutout the most receivers, who can get the most interceptions. Just being aggressive all over.

BCP: What areas of your game need to developed to become an elite safety?
GREEN: Coverage and open field tackling. Just improving on both of those and getting my footwork right.

BCP: What verbal scholarship offers do you have and which ones do you want?
GREEN: Rutgers, USF, Purdue, Memphis, Cincinnati and Kentucky. I would like to have Ole Miss offer me.

BCP: Which schools/coaches impressed you during the recruiting month of May?
GREEN: Kentucky and Ole Miss impressed me the most.

BCP: When did you realize that your size and ability could possibly provide you with the opportunity to receive a full athletic scholarship?
GREEN: My 10th grade year. I grew a lot and was able to make plays.

BCP: Do you feel as though you are overlooked as a prospect?
GREEN: No, I don’t feel I’m overlooked

BCP: What official visit do you plan on taking and when?
GREEN: I have no idea right now.
